First up Wanaka to Christchurch - Sam asked if I was keen to follow along for the adventure. Of course I was. It was self-supported so once he set off I couldn’t be involved other than taking pics and shouting encouragement. It was super cold in the pass, windy on the plains, four seasons in a day. It was epic. It was so hard to trim this down to just these images. There were so many great shots.

Secondly Auckland - Wellington. Beating Lachlan Moretons time. One of the coolest parts of this one was seeing all the people come out to support Sam, peppering the side of the road all the way into Wellington, down the coast and the big gathering in Central Welly. How good.

Thirdly, and potentially the trickiest as well. The Great Rides version. It was from the media perspective. First of all, the bulk of the riding was done overnight (in the dark) not a heap of available light about. Secondly - there were a lot of trails where we couldn’t follow him, obvs, so we would have to get to the start, race up the trail on bikes - Sam would shoot past, we’d then race back to the van, pin it to the end of the trail to meet him and do it all again.
